Agenda item 92

Review of the implementation of the recommendations and decisions adopted by the General Assembly at its tenth special session

Report of the First Committee (A/61/396)
The Acting President

The Assembly has before it two draft resolutions recommended by the First Committee in paragraph 9 of its report.

I give the floor to the representative of the United States, who wishes to speak in explanation of position before the voting.

Ms. Barnes (United States)

My delegation would like to announce that it will not participate in the action about to be taken on draft resolution A/C.1/61/L.11, entitled "Report of the Disarmament Commission".

The Acting President

We will now take a decision on draft resolutions I and II.

We turn first to draft resolution I, entitled "Report of the Disarmament Commission".

The First Committee adopted draft resolution I without a vote. May I take it that the Assembly wishes to do the same?

Draft resolution I was adopted (resolution 61/98).
The Acting President

Draft resolution II is entitled "Report of the Conference on Disarmament".

The First Committee adopted draft resolution II without a vote. May I take it that the Assembly wishes to do likewise?

Draft resolution II was adopted (resolution 61/99).
The Acting President

May I take it that it is the wish of the General Assembly to conclude its consideration of agenda item 92?

It was so decided.
The meeting was suspended at 5.05 p.m. and resumed at 5.25 p.m.
The Acting President

As there are still technical problems with the voting machine, we have decided to proceed to take action on those draft resolutions with regard to which recorded votes have not been requested. We will thus proceed to take action on draft resolutions under items 94, 95, 97, 110 and 118.
